We typically ship within 2 business days of receipt of your order. However, during the busy season [late January-mid March] it may be as long as five or six days. We ship US Postal Service 1st class for items up to two pounds. Over that, we usually ship UPS ground. Shipping charges are designed to cover our actual costs, not to make a profit. Shipping charge depends on the size of the order. Effective Jan 1, 2008, the following shipping costs will apply. (if you order before that, you will pay the old prices). Orders from $2.50-$10.00 are $2.95; $10.01 to $25.00 are $3.95; $25 to $40. are $4.95; $40.01 to 65 are $5.95; and above $60, the shipping charge $6.95. The web site is a bit clunky and I can not do fixed rates there so we have to do a percentage. I set the percentage so that it is as close to the above rates as possible. The way it works that shipping and handling will work out to be 13% of the total or your order. However, there is a minimum shipping charge of $2.95 and a maximum charge of $6.95. Say for example, your order comes to $30 and you buy on line. The shipping charge will be 13% of that or $3.90. If your order total were $85, 13% would be $11.05, but since the maximum is $6.95, that would be your charge. VERY IMPORTANT. If you order a gift certificate on
line, these are excluded from the total order amount for shipping
purposes. PRICING:
Most seeds are $2.85.
Exceptions are Franchi special selections and hybrids
which are $3.10 and Certified Organic
seeds are $3.25. Seeds from Bari are
mostly $2.95. Also some of the
larger size packs (for example the one pound box of chick peas and the Jumbo
packs) are more expensive, primarily due to higher shipping costs from Italy.
For larger scale growers we stock some bulk seed and can
obtain bulk seed for every variety in just about any quantity at extremely
competitive prices. |
