Smeraldo pole beans

Last yesr, we planted 3 varieties of pole beans from you, Supermarconi, Meraviglia di Venezia and Smeraldo. This year it will be only Smeraldo. It outperformed the others by MILES, more beans, larger beans, better flavor, tender even at 10”, kept producing longer. I can’t praise this variety too highly! I love romano beans and frequently just go into the garden and eat them raw. Smeraldo is the best variety, hands down, cooked or raw. Thank you so much for carrying it!!!

Smeraldo Pole Beans

This is the first time I've grown Smeraldo. They're even better than advertised. First planting failed completely, but the weather here in the central Oregon high desert has been a real challenge this year. Frost until June followed quickly by a 100+ degree heat dome for weeks. So I replanted after a few weeks and the vines are layering well above our 7 foot arbor in mid-August. 8 to 9 inch tender delicious pods are hanging everywhere. Definitely will be my go-to planting in the future. Thanks for offering them!

Smeralto beans

These beans are the best! I just finished harvesting the first planting. The flat beans were tender and delicious sauteed in butter and garlic!

My favorite "go-to" beans

Every year I try new types of beans, but the Smeraldo will always be one of my core group of vegetables I plant year after year. Great taste, great producer! Here to stay!

Hard to find Roma Green Bean

Well, maybe not hard to find anymore. Other companies do not offer the seed quality or quantity that is Franchi. I rely on this beauty every year...and am never disappointed. It is just the best green bean there is. No thank you to skinny french "haricot vert". I like them long, fat and delicious.
