This cultivar forms very tight bulbs that are hard to pop apart. It is, however, worth it because this trait seems to be why they store longer than many other varieties; easily 10 months, with some lasting well over a year. Sicilian Artichoke does very well in the Southern US and in the Midwest. Popular due to its heavy yields and long storage (usually until the next harvest).
