Bean La Victoire (59-42)
Bean La Victoire. Bush type intense green French bean. 50-55 days. Beautiful, slim, tasty, very dark green bean; slimmer and darker green than Boby Bianco. Good producer. Pick when no thicker than a pencil for best eating quality and to encourage more production. Wonderful in a summer bean salad or just steamed briefly, cooled and dressed with olive oil & parsley. 50 gram pack contains approximately 180 seeds.
Bush beans have approximately 2-10 seeds per gram.

I've grown La Victoire for perhaps 5 years - always a good grower and a heavy producer. The beans are easy to pick. They are slightly larger in diameter than the most slender haricots verts but very tender and flavorful, and they are slow to develop strings. These beans grow well in southern Vermont and I recommend them highly. I don't plant them until the soil warms up, then I keep them watered. They love a good infusion of compost. They need to be picked every day, but your efforts are always rewarded! Perfect to fill the gap while you wait for the pole beans to begin production.
I planted this bush bean before and love them. This year i grew them in a more shady spot and i didn't get much beans as i used to. I will find them a good sunny spot next year.
This green bean is terrific! For the first time, my husband fights with my daughter over the last serving of these green beans. Next year, I will definitely plant a larger bed of these green beans.
These are the best beans I have ever grown. I was amazed at the amount of beans produced over the summer, in fact they are still producing on the first of October. The beans are very slender and stay firm when cooked, without the loose skin that so often comes off on other varieties when cooked.
We have planted these green and yellow beans for the last three years. We have only a small garden, and try to pick them while they a slim, but they are such heavy producers, sometimes they get ahead of us! But we love them. exelent texture and taste, and beautiful to look at.
