Eggplant Violetta Lunga (90-1)

So far very slow. Planted in south texas. Started some in pots indoors in Feb, started some in irrigated raised beds in march. Good compost in bed and some plant food. Full sun and partial shade locations. Very Very slow growth all areas. Seeds planted direct in ground grew faster than pot started. Just now getting a couple with flowers out of 8 planted. Not vigorous. we will see if we get any fruit! will update if do at that time.

This is a fairly good grower if you like smaller, thin eggplants. It does well in my Pacific NW garden where eggplants can have a tough time because of our short summers.

As I looked over my notes from the last 3 years, Violetta Lunga was the standout eggplant producer in my garden. On top of that it has a great taste and very useful in my late grandmother's Italian recipes.It will be in the garden again this year.

this has been our mainstay eggplant--very easy to grow and VERY productive. lots of beautiful long fruits with a sweet nutty flavor over a long period.
