Crisp leaf type. Only organic available. You can pick them before they head up or after; same great taste and texture. Usually work well during summer heat. Either start inside 6 weeks before set out, 2-3 seeds/cell, thin to one. Set out six week transplants from 3-4 weeks before last frost date until pretty much the middle of September. Space plants 12". If direct seeding, one seed every 2", initially thin to one every six inches. Pick the middle one at baby size and let other grow to full size head. 5 gram packet. Approximately 600-1200 seeds per gram.

Paul Kobulnicky I grow organic and sell retail and this is one of my most popular lettuces. It is so beautiful and obviously crisp that those who don't know it immediately ask about it and those who have bought it return for more. It does even better when paired on a sales table with something dark red and soft like Merlot or pair it with a butterhead. And ... drum roll ... it is my wife's favorite by far.
It also is a great three season lettuce. Does super well in the Spring and into late Fall and does quite well in the Summer when I give it a lot of water once it gets some size and cover with floating row cover for some heat protection. It holds fairly well at maturity.
I always grow it.
