Pepper Giallo d'Asti (97-1)
Pepper Giallo d'Asti - Yellow from Asti. Classic large square yellow pepper from Piemonte. Big fruit, excellent production, sweet taste. Roast on the grill, remove skin & slice. Nice color combination when cooked together with Red Asti. 60-65 days green, 80-90 days yellow. 1.5 gram packet, approximately 200 seeds.

It's smaller than what I was expecting, but the flavor more than compensates. Very sweet. I don't know why Marion didn't get ripe ones in Ohio, since I'm getting them in Indianapolis. They are slow, but they began ripening at the beginning of August: of course, sprouting the seeds in mid February may have helped.
grows taller before it starts fruiting, rarely has colored fruit in ohio, we usually end up fighting frost before we get ripe peppers. Theye are very productive, at that point there may be a peck of immature peppers on each plant. That said, they are excellant, but I think they need more heat earlier on, maybe would do better under row covers.
