Our shipment of new tomato seeds from Italy is still delayed in transit, with customs and USDA clearance looming as another chance for major delay.  Many of you need tomato seeds urgently to begin planting, so we are offering some soon-to-expire tomato seed that we still have on hand, at half price.

These tomatoes all have expiration dates marked on the packets of June 2025, and tomato seeds typically keep viability for 4-6 years so I would expect that they will continue to germinate well long after that expiry date.  However, because they "expire" so soon, we are offering them at half price until the new seeds arrive to replace them. Thank you for your understanding!

Rio Grande. 2 grams, approximately 500 seeds.

Tomatoes form in clusters and seem to do well in weather extremes, both hot and cold. Good disease resistance. It is a determinate plant and can be grown in a cage, allowed to sprawl, or trellised. Mid-early paste-type tomato. Space 24" apart.

Good in Minnesota

I always grow some of these in addition to S. Marzano, Polish Linguisa ecc. They do well in a short season with less than ideal conditions. They seem immune to blossom-end rot and are reliably prolific. They keep very well, whether on the plant or after picking. I pick them over a period of days until I have enough for a large batch of passata. When everything else fails, these always come through.

didn't work for us

growing in large pots in hawaii, these produced a modest number of dryish, tasteless tomatoes on plants that succumbed to dusty mildew. we've had good crops from other varieties, and maybe this one's just not for our conditions.

Indomitable paste tomato!

Fabulous producer on short semi-determinant plants. The first flush makes these bushes look like they are covered in Easter eggs. Covered. Totally. The plants continued to set lighter flushes until frost here (Think Thanksgiving) These plants out performed any other paste & shook off the numerous foliage and insect-borne diseases prevalent in our hot, humid but droughty climate. Fruit is tasty - drier but very edible sliced for salads. Cooked up is where these maters shine. They add enough pectin to mix with cherry tomatoes (& whatever else ripe) in the garden to make great sauce & salsa for the winter. Can't say enough good things about them - great for container growing - loved life in 5 gallon buckets. Mainstay in our garden & the gardens of local friends.
