Cardoon Gobbo di Nizza - Hunchback of Nice. Thick almost spineless ribs. Tasty and very decorative. Cardoons are kind of a giant artichoke only you eat the stems rather than the flowers. Will grow six feet tall. Prefer full sun and light fertile soil. Usually need some support. Start in the early spring, 2-3 seeds per pot. Thin to one, and set plants out after danger of frost has passed, spacing at 36 inches. When several feet high, tie the stems together with twine. Blanch two weeks before harvest with newspaper or cardboard. 110 days. 5 gram packet
