Cucumber Carosello Tondo di Manduria
Green cucumber-melon type that Southern Italians favor. Similar to Half-long of Puglia, except this one is completely round. This is one cucumber that doesn't really need to be grown on a trellis because the shape. Fruits are covered with the 'down' typical of melon cucumbers, which rubs off easily. Pick when green and it has a really nice cucumber taste; allow to ripen more and they turn yellow and a bit sweeter. Early, productive, with a very nice taste. Sow 5-6 seeds/hill spaced 4" apart after soil is warm in the spring (a week or two after last frost date). Thin to 3 plants per hill. Space hills at three feet and rows at six feet. 55 days. 3 gram packet = about 100 seeds. Approximately 30-45 seeds per gram. To see our growing guide for cucumbers, click here.
