Sais Sementi short-day variety of the Tropea Rossa onion, renowned for its very sweet flavour. Sown at the end of the summer in seedbed and transplanted during the autumn. The onions can be harvested from the springtime onwards as bunching onions, when the bulbs are cylindrical or only partially developed, or for completely mature onions, in June-July. The mature onions are large, round, and with red skins. They must be consumed during the summer or autumn as they do not have long shelf life.
