loves the cold
grows quickly, even when it's cold, but bolts at the first warm day. excellant first spinach, even overwintered in ohio.

A great variety for overwintering
I plant this spinach in August and it grows and overwinters under the snow. I live in Marlboro, Vermont and if I was south of here I would mulch it lightly with straw or dry leaves. The plants explode forth in the spring and pump out tender, delicious leaves until they finally go to seed in the first heat of late June.
